Halal carts are quintessentially New York as is its pizza, subway, and skyscrapers. Halal carts are everywhere – they are on every other block. They will all offer white sauce and hot sauce, and the basic formula for their main offering is the same: cooked rotisserie meat poured over rice with a side salad. There are good ones, better ones, and then there is my favorite: Adel’s Famous Halal Food. The best. In my opinion.

Located on 49th and 6th ave, a block or two away you can find the ever famous Halal Guys™️ but I don’t recommend them. The Halal Guys™️ are more expensive and honestly, I don’t like how they taste. Adel’s is where you will find a line of locals at 3AM. Halal Guys™️ is where you will find a line of tourists because Halal Guys™️ have a marketting department and are partnered with the same people behind the franchising efforts of Five Guys, and Qdoba.

Adel’s is where it’s at.

First off, Adel’s is cheaper. Their price is 6 dollars for a combo over rice. Every one else around there will charge you eight. Gives you more money for you to tip with. And trust me, you are gonna wanna tip for this deliciousness.

But most importantly, Abel’s tastes better!

Delicious Halal Food
My favorite. Combo over rice, with a dash of white sauce and a little more barbecue sauce. ($6.00)

Abel’s meat is juicier, their rice is more flavorful, and their salad is more fresh.

I live many blocks away. There must be more than a dozen halal carts between me and Adel’s. But today, I spent half an hour to get Adel’s.

It’s worth it.
